From the Arabian Peninsula to Red Sea – Cruiseventures with Lynne Clarke
In the next few days we are excited to be bringing you blogs from our Managing Director, Lynne Clarke, as she travels across the globe to our newest destination the Red Sea. Imagine spending New Year’s in this exotic destination – stay tuned as Lynne keeps us abreast of this new and exciting world she is visiting.
First stop: Dubai Airport
Sitting in Dubai airport at a little French bistro, the façade of wooden walls create a sanctuary of peace as I’m bordered away from the hustle and bustle of scurrying people.
Even at 05:00am the crowds of travellers are overwhelmingly huge. It’s therefore quite incredible that I feel surprisingly relaxed and at ease whilst waiting for the flight to Cairo, Egypt to board MSC Armonia for the excitement of the Red Sea. Perhaps this is because of my new friend who greeted me when I exited the plane; he was a futuristic looking device, which tells you who you are, where you are going and how to get there – all with a simple one second scan of your boarding pass!
In all of its grandeur, Dubai International Airport seems to be the pinnacle of new age modernity. The shops are a feast for the eyes – even before sunrise.
With a pleasant stopover time of 3 hours, and then a short flight across to Cairo, I will soon be in the mystical land of ancient pyramids, sphinxes and rose coloured sand.
That’s all for now – I look forward to sharing more with you when I get to Sharm el Sheik, which is the departure port for MSC Armonia, who is currently on her 7-night rotation cruise visiting the historic and wondrous lands of Egypt, Israel and Jordan. It’s a totally new adventure as I have not had the pleasure of visiting any of these places before. I cannot wait for this new chapter in my life, which MSC has given me the opportunity to explore and experience.
